Bubble Love

Toma is holding a marshmallow candy and playing with his new toy “Bubbles” which is made by his daddy. He is blowing and running around as fast as he can to create more bubbles in the field. For the first time, he sees how beautiful bubbles are.

Daddy explained to Toma that bubbles are made of air trapped inside a hollow liquid ball. The colours on the bubbles are created by the reflection of light on the bubbles’ surface. Bubbles float up because warm air is lighter than cold air. If the air blown into the bubble is warmer than the air around it, the bubble will float up.

All Toma understands is that each bubble must be filled with air and with a colourful rainbow inside.

Toma is fascinated with bubbles. When they fall on the grass, Toma will lay down on the grass and watch the caterpillar throws the colourful bubbles. When Toma tries to catch the bubbles, they will burst upon his touch and disappear. Toma doesn’t understand why can’t he give bubbles a hug?

Toma tells Cubby he is sad because he is in love with bubbles. Cubby explains that some things in this world are an illusion and not everything we see is real. We must appreciate every moment and journey in our life.

Now, Toma is no longer sad. Deep inside, he suspects that Bubble could be a messenger carrying his wishes to the universe. He is lying on the field with the marshmallow melting in his mouth, happily watching all his wishes flying up to the sky.

Few days later, Bit Bit bought Toma a new toy called Bubble Glue. Toma believes the universe had received his wish request.

Blessing Child (18 Aug 2010)

It’s a beautiful sunny day with bright blue skies. Bit Bit happily wears her favourite black ribbon and gets ready for school. She is eager to meet her friends and teachers and wondering what she will learn today.

After a short wait, her school bus arrives. She greets everyone with a cheerful smile and takes the seat next to Mooie, a little mouse deer. Mooie is frustrated because her mother did not prepare her favourite sunny side up for breakfast. Bit Bit was thinking in her heart that it’s just breakfast and it’s not a big deal. Mooie get to have other choices for her breakfast.

The journey to school took longer than usual due to a massive jam caused by a car which has broken down. Everyone in the bus starts complaining. Bit Bit wonders why her friends are unhappy whereas she, on the other hand is excited as it would mean she has more time to enjoy the beautiful weather and to play with her friends on the bus.

When the bus finally arrived at school, Bit But happily rushes to her class. Sitting next to Bit Bit is Tommy. He starts complaining to Bit Bit that it is not a good day for him. Tommy did not sleep well last night and his daddy did not bring him for ice cream. Bit Bit does not understand why Tommy is upset as he can rest early tonight and have ice cream another day.

During the break, Bit Bit was really happy to see other classmates gathering and playing at the playground. Bit Bit quickly got on a swing and started swinging. With the wind gently blowing on her face as she climbs higher and higher, she realises that she is blessed with so many things in life. She starts counting her blessings from a good night sleep, great weather, many friends around to amazing lessons learned. She is blessed that she is able to start a new day with a smile. Then she realises that happiness can be easily achieved by just counting her blessings everyday …
